Along with Vacation Bible School, I also participated in our Teen Bible School last week.
I really enjoyed getting to spend some quality time with our teens and getting to know them all a little better.
Our church has an amazing group of young people (and adults)!
We were also excited to have some new teens visit with us and hope that they will continue to come and grow in the Lord.
Everyone had a blast! There were some great competitions, games, snacks and a TON of laughs!
Ever walked backwards, balancing a frisbee on your head while "Chuck E Cheese ball pit" balls are thrown at you? |
Or attempt to play soccer with a giant peanut-shaped ball? |
Of course, the week wasn't just full of fun and games. There was some good Bible preaching as well.
This was the theme for this year's Teen Bible School.
The verse used to coincide with this is Mark 8:36 (KJV)
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"
It's a very thought-provoking question, isn't it?
What is all the great things we do or get in our lives worth, if we die and burn in Hell for eternity?
Nothing. (Loss!)
The Evangelist, who conducts our VBS and TBS, stressed to the teens how very important it is to make sure that Heaven will be their home when they die. (Profit!)
He also encouraged them to fully live for the Lord today. (Profit!)
Too many kids these days are consumed with material things. (Loss!)
They think they they can live how they want to now and just get right with God when they get older. (Loss!)
We are not promised tomorrow, according to the Bible. This was most definitely realized this week.
On Wednesday night, the teens heard a fantastic message on salvation.
I had the privilege of leading Carson, a sweet 11 yr old girl, to the Lord.
Praise God that she got her eternity settled! (Profit!)
While the service was going on, unbeknownst to us, a car crashed right in front of the church. The 20 yr old young man inside that car died. I am so very sorry for that young man's family and pray for their comfort during this trying time. I think that God allowed that to happen in front of the church knowing that the kids would have to see this horrific scene when they left that night.
It must have been an eye-opener to several, because at least 6 teens got saved the next night. (Profit!)
Praise the Lord!
Unfortunately, this is not the end of the story...
On Monday night, one of our regular teens attended TBS.
On Tuesday, he went missing.
On Friday night, they found his body in the woods near his home.
He had been shot multiple times.
He was 15 yrs old.
Sad.
Senseless.
Al was a wonderful young man! He was constantly laughing and joking around. He always had a mischievous grin on his face . He attended church often. He had a promising future.
All of that ended in the blink of an eye. (Loss!)
Through all the tears, we find comfort in the fact that Al's life was not a total loss.
In May 2008, Al settled his eternity. He accepted Christ as his Savior. (PROFIT!)
So, even though his life ended abruptly, he is safe in the arms of our Lord. (PROFIT!)

James
4:14 (KJV) - "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is
your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and
then vanisheth away. "
What will your life be...
Profit?
or Loss?
Have you settled YOUR eternity??
